STEVEN J. PICARDI is a solo practitioner specializing in the representation of self-insured employers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1988 from McDaniel college (f/k/a Western Maryland College), and his Juris Doctorate in 1991 from The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. For the past 30 years he has represented self-insured employers, insurance companies and non-insured employers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims. 5280 Magazine named Mr. Picardi a “Top Lawyer” for 2020 and 2021 in the workers’ compensation – defense category. In addition to defending workers’ compensation claims, Mr. Picardi spent six years representing physicians in complex medical malpractice claims. He is a member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, the Colorado Self-Insurer’s Association, and the Colorado Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Committee and has lectured and written extensively on the subjects of workers’ compensation and legal ethics.
